How To Become Saved
The Romans Road takes you on a journey through the letter that Paul wrote to the Romans. In these passages you find that the only remedy for our sinful condition is believing in Jesus Christ. It is a road full of hope and if you are willing to trade in your own thinking and agree with God, you will see your need for a Savior.
The Problem
To apply a remedy you must first admit that there is a problem. Admitting that you are a sinner is the first step on the Romans Road. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden they committed the first sin. Since that time every human has been born with that sin nature.
Romans 3:10 As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
The Bad News
Because we all have sinned God expects a payment for that sin. The only payment that is acceptable is death. The place that God has prepared for sinners is called Hell. All human’s destination is Hell because we are all sinners. Death is what we deserve because we owe a debt for our sin.
Romans 6:23a For the wages of sin is death
The Good News
God loves us so much that He offered His only begotten Son, Jesus to pay our sin debt for us. This is a gift that is available all of us. When we believe that Jesus died for us to pay our debt, we can have eternal life with Him. At the moment we believe what Jesus did on the cross for us, our destination changes from Hell to Heaven when we leave this earth.
Romans 6:23b but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord
Such a big promise
A couple more steps on the Romans Road show us more promises from our Heavenly Father.
Romans 5:8 But God commends His love toward us, in that, while we were sinners, Christ died for us
Romans 10:13 For whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
You have a choice and it’s personal
God wants to hear it from you. He wants you to confess (profess) that Jesus is the only One perfect enough to pay your sin debt and that you believe Jesus died on the cross for you. God wants you to make it personal. When you sense that nudge it is because the Holy Spirit is calling you to believe. When you believe in your heart and when you say it out loud (testify) that Jesus is LORD of your life you are saved and part of God’s everlasting family.
Romans 10:9-10 That if you confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and s believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
If you pray the following prayer and truly mean it in your heart, you will be saved.
Heavenly Father, I have sinned and I chose to change from my sinful ways.
I believe Jesus died for my sins and rose again from the dead to give me life everlasting and I ask you, because of Him, to forgive me all my sins.
Jesus, I ask You to come into my life and help me with my new walk with You.
Thank You Father, and Thank You, Jesus for giving me my new life, in Jesus’ Name, Amen!
